LAREI

The Rancho Adult Day Services is a national award-winning Center. It is sponsored by the Los Amigos Research and Educational Institute, Inc. (LAREI). LAREI is a private, non-profit organization in Downey, California.

Rancho Adult Day Services is a California State Licensed Adult Day Health Care Center, Adult Day Care and an Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center in a blended program. Individuals are enrolled in the Center based on the level of care they need.

The Center serves older individuals with physical and memory impairments.

Services include:

• Nursing Care
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy
• Social Services
• Psychological Services
• Speech Therapy
• Activities (ceramics, carpentry, Art Classes: marbling and jewelry-making classes)
• Therapeutic exercise classes
• Nutritional lunches
• Transportation arrangements

Days and Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The setting: Rancho Adult Day Services has a safe, friendly environment with state of the art activities and therapies. There are several program rooms and therapy rooms. There is also a large, beautifully landscaped garden that includes an orchid garden, herb and vegetable garden, topiary garden, fish pond, grape vines and flower gardens. The gardens are planted and nurtured by the participants. They also propagate new plants. There is plenty of space to walk, participate in bird watching classes and shaded areas for outdoor garden teas or art classes.

Eligibility: Limited ability to function independently because of physical or memory impairment, need for nursing or therapy services, 18 years or older with emphasis on older adult.

Services for Families:

• Respite time from 24-hour caregiving
• Education and training
• Counseling
• Caregiver Support Groups (English and Spanish)

Area Served: City of Downey, Bell, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, Maywood, South Gate. Other surrounding cities can be arranged.

Fees:

• Medi-Cal accepted
• Private fees - varies with type of Adult Day Service needed
• Private Insurance
• "Scholarships" may be applied for when available
