Environmental Health

Research capabilities of the EHS includes:

Controlled environmental exposures of health subjects and patients to:

  • Air pollutants (e.g. ozone, sulfur dioxide, acid aerosols, etc.)
  • Heat, cold, different humidities
  • Exercise protocols
  • Drug pretreatments in air-pollution studies
  • Aerosolized medications (e.g., pharmacokinetic effects of Ribavirin)


Studies of panels of subjects:

  • Epidemiologic studies of air-pollution health effects
  • Time-activity profiles of specific groups in the population
  • Clinical trials of new or marketed medications for efficacy and safety in patients with asthma and COPD
