Orthotic Department

Current Research Studies

The Orthotic Department at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, fabricates orthoses (braces) for individuals seen in the various rehabilitation clinics of Rancho.

The mission of the Orthotic Department is to provide "state of the art" orthoses to the clients of Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and to improve the "state of the art" through education, advances in design and improvement in materials and fabrication techniques.

Throughout the years, the Orthotic Department at Rancho has had a major impact on the field of Orthotics, having developed a number of orthotic systems in use today. Some of these include the HALO, the wrist driven wrist-hand orthosis and the Linear Mobile Arm Support.
