The Pathokinesiology Service (PKLAB) at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center was formed in 1968 by Jacquelin Perry, MD., with technical assistance from engineer, Daniel Antonelli.

Using fine wire electrodes, gait EMG was established as a primary clinical tool in determining the appropriateness of surgical procedures to correct gait deformities.

Using the "Douglas Bag" technique, energy cost was incorporated as a standard clinical tool by Robert Waters, MD.

The Foot Switch Stride Analyzer was developed as a "stand alone instrument" to compute the temporal gait parameters.

The EMG Analyzer software was developed to provide a means of "automatically" defining the onset and cessation times of muscles, as well as their relative intensities.

Sara Mulroy, Ph.D. appointed director.
Jacquelin Perry, MD became Chief Medical Consultant.

Moved gait lab to new location on the Rancho North Campus.

Engineer Philip Requejo, Ph.D. joins Pathokinesiology Laboratory to develop 3-D computer simulation modeling of the upper and lower extremities.
