RANCHO LEVELS OF COGNITIVE FUNCTIONING
Terry Reimer, MA, Speech Pathologist, Ellen K. Parker, MS, Paula Diannitto, MS and Duane Evarts, BSIT.
The Rancho Levels of Cognitive Functioning was developed by clinicians at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center who collected weekly descriptive date on the verbal and nonverbal behaviors of thousands of closed brain injury patients demonstrating cognitive dysfunction. The observed patterns of recovery lead to the development of the behavioral descriptors utilized in the scale. This videotape provides vignettes which exemplify behaviors evident at each of the originally defined eight levels of cognitive functioning. The purposes of the sale are:
To provide a descriptive tool covering a wide range of behaviors, ranging from no response or interaction with the environment to a more complex level of cognitive responsiveness;
To provide staff and families with a common descriptive vocabulary; provide staff and families with an increased understanding of the behavioral stages which may be seen during the recovery process;
4.) To assist in establishing appropriate treatment objectives and/or referrals. (1995) (40 min.)

READY SET GO
Pediatric Powered Mobility presents two programs, the Pediatric Powered Wheelchair Screening Test (PPWST) - a cognitive screening tool, and the Powered Mobility Program (PMP) - an approach to evaluating and training youngsters for powered mobility. The PPWST and the PMP were developed to aid clinicians in the decision making process when considering a powered wheelchair for a very young child (developmentally 2-3 years of age). These programs were the result of a five year research grant investigating the cognitive readiness for powered mobility in young children with only orthopedic disabilities. Although the PPWST is only validated for children with orthopedic disabilities, the PMP approach can be used as a clinical guidline for all populations and age groups.
Video time is approximately 1 hour and includes written manual and scoring sheets.
